Asst. Prof. Dr. Roshith P BE MTech PhD

 

Dr. Roshith, an esteemed Assistant Professor in the field of manufacturing engineering, boasts a wealth of experience encompassing industry, research, and pedagogy. His academic journey led him to achieve a PhD in the realms of Manufacturing and Material Science, undertaken at the illustrious Vellore Institute of Technology, situated within the confines of the Vellore campus. In addition to this scholarly pinnacle, he acquired his MTech from the esteemed Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, with its picturesque Coimbatore campus, and his BE from the prestigious Anna University, nestled in the vibrant surroundings of the Chennai campus.

Notably, Dr. Roshith's professional trajectory includes a tenure as an applied researcher specializing in the intricacies of manufacturing processes at Paninion India Pvt Ltd. Furthermore, he served as an Assistant Professor at the Mahaguru Institute of Technology in Kayamkulam, contributing his expertise for a duration of 4.5 months. His dedication extended to assuming the roles of department head and Assistant Professor at the esteemed Malabar Institute of Technology in Kannur, where he made significant contributions over an eight-month period.

Preceding these notable roles, he enriched his experience by fulfilling the responsibilities of a teaching and research associate at the Vellore Institute of Technology, once again within the Vellore campus, for an impressive three-year term. Additionally, he honed his skills as a trainee at NLC India Ltd, adding valuable industry insights to his repertoire.

His professional aspiration entails the pursuit of meticulous collaborative research endeavors aimed at expanding his intellectual horizons, with the ultimate goal of nurturing and instructing the minds of tomorrow. Presently, he is engaged in the investigation of welding techniques for amalgamating dissimilar metals, the analysis of hot-corroded thermal barrier-coated materials within corrosive gaseous surroundings, and the exploration of the impact of Laser Shock Peening (LSP) and Shot Peening techniques on various materials.

Teaching Experience (4 years)

 

He has previously served as an Assistant Professor at Mahaguru institute of technology, Kayamkulam.

 

  • Assisted in NAAC accreditation works.

  • Assisted as KTU Coordinator.

  • Coordinated the classes for the S6 batch (2022-year) of ME and MEP students. 

  • Coordinator of the College PTA Committee. 

  • Invigilator for internal and external exams at KTU 

  • He taught the following subjects to both UG mechanical and production engineering students: Manufacturing Process, Dynamics of Machinery, Comprehensive Course Work, and Production Engineering Lab.

 

He previously held the positions of Assistant Professor and Head of Department at Malabar Institute of Technology (MIT) in Kannur.

 

  • He taught courses in Solid Mechanics, Automobile Engineering, Sustainable Energy Processes, and Engineering Thermodynamics.

  • Appointed as an Examiner for the centralized Valuation Camp at KTU (APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University) for the evaluation of answer scripts.

  • His involvement with Kannur University included serving as an examiner/evaluator for the Gas Dynamics and Heat and Mass Transfer section of the Internal Improvement Exam.

From December 1, 2017, to November 30, 2020, he was employed as a Teaching and Research Associate (TRA) at the Vellore Institute of Technology in Vellore.

Research Experience (6.9 years)

 

  • While pursuing a PhD in manufacturing technology, he collaborated with Dr Srinivasan A (Senior Scientist at CSIR, National Institute for Interdisciplinary Science, Thiruvananthapuram, India), Dr. Ram Prabhu T (Deputy Director / Scientist, Center for Military Airworthiness and Certification, DRDO) and Dr. T. Ramesh (Associate Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, NIT, Tiruchirappalli) on research projects focused on PCGTAW and CO2 LB welding, as well as hot corrosion on specimens.

  • Additionally, he extensively worked in the field of Metallurgy and Metal Joining, as a part of his final year M.Tech project. He collaborated with prominent Indian scientists Dr. G. Padmanabham and Shri. K V. Phani Prabhakar of the Centre for Laser Processing of Materials, International Advanced Research Centre for Powder Metallurgy & New Materials (ARCI), Balapur, Hyderabad, India, on research related to metal joining through laser welding.

 

Industrial Experience (6 months)

 

   He was employed as an Applied Researcher: Special Manufacturing Process at Paninion India Pvt Ltd from 15/5/2023 to 19/7/2023.

 

  • Learned the 3D Experience (CATIA) software from TANCAM (Tamil Nadu Centre of Excellence for Advanced Manufacturing).           

  • Visited TAMCOE (Tamil Nadu Advance Manufacturing Centre of Excellence) and learned about the  additive  manufacturing  instrument  and  its characterization. 

  • Identified  the usage  of LSP  and TBC coating  on  additively manufactured   aero engine parts and   focused  on  the application of forging and casting in the gas turbine engine components.

   He worked as a Graduate Apprentice Trainee at Neyveli Lignite Corporation Mine 2 (NLC) from 29 January 2017 to 15 July 2017. 

  • He worked in the conveyor zone, the Mech zone, and the SME zone, where he learned about conveyor belt clamp issues 

​

   He  completed a one-week inplant training at Southern Railway (Erode) from 10/6/2013 to 15/6/2013, where he learned about                 troubleshooting issues related to train components .
